Funeral March, for Tuba (or Trombone) and Organ, in C minor	pour Tuba (ou Trombone) et Orgue, en ut mineur
Jean-Pierre Vial composed this funeral march, initially for tuba and organ, in 1968. As an option, you can choose to assign the tuba part to a trombone. After a grave introduction in C minor, repeated at the conclusion, the central part of the piece develops a melody which, while remaining tonal, presents the twelve notes of the chromatic scale. The melody is accompanied by an Alberti-type bass which forms a counterpoint close to bitonality. After a tuba (or trombone) solo, the piece ends with a repeat of the grave introduction in C minor. The piece is designed for un organ with (at least) two keyboards, the pedal and usual couplings. Keyboards must encompass (at least) four octaves plus a fifth, from C2 through G6 (International Pitch Notation – IPN). The pedal must encompass (at least) two octaves, from C2 through C4. The score of the Funeral march is published by Universal Edition. The work is registered with SACEM. ●	Jean-Pierre Vial composa cette marche funèbre, initialement pour tuba et orgue, en 1968. En option, on peut choisir de jouer la partie de tuba au trombone. Après une introduction grave en ut mineur, que l'on retrouve en conclusion, la partie centrale de la pièce développe une mélodie qui, tout en restant tonale, présente les douze notes de la gamme chromatique. Cette mélodie est accompagnée par une basse de type Alberti qui forme un contrepoint proche de la bitonalité. Après un solo de tuba (ou de trombone), la pièce se conclut par une reprise de l'introduction grave en ut mineur. Cette pièce est écrite pour un orgue disposant (au minimum) de deux claviers, le pédalier et les accouplements usuels. L'étendue des claviers est (au minimum) de quatre octaves plus une quinte, depuis l'ut1 jusqu'au sol5 (en notation française). L'étendue de la pédale est (au minimum) de deux octaves, depuis l'ut1 jusqu'à l'ut3. La partition de la Marche funèbre est publiée par Universal Edition. L'œuvre est référencée auprès de la SACEM. ●
