Jean-Pierre Vial combined a few preexisting themes of his for composing this Canzonetta in 2020. After a brief introduction, the trio develops a melody of pastoral mood that surrounds a second theme much more syncopated. The Spilliaert trio (violinist Jean-Samuel Bez, cellist Guillaume Lagravière and pianist Gauvain de Morant) premiered the Canzonetta in Brussels, in 2021.
