Jean-Pierre Vial
is a French composer, born near Paris, France, in 1946.
While learning the piano and the organ, he composed several “juvenile” pieces for both instruments. More recently, he has composed various pieces for solo instruments, small ensembles, or chamber or symphony orchestras. In 2022, his Piano concerto in D minor was premiered by the Lviv National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine (conducted by Volodymyr Syvokhip, soloist Oksana Rapita). In 2021, his Piano concerto in G minor was premiered by the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Moldova (conducted by Mihail Agafiţa, soloist Diana Voroneţcaia). He received composition awards for such works as his Præludium & fuga MMXVIII for organ, or his chorale “Vor Johann Sebastian, tret ich hiermit” for string orchestra. His compositions represent over 120 pieces, eight hours and 1,200 pages of music, not including instrumental parts or various transcriptions.

Jean-Pierre Vial composed this Fughetta in 2015. Since then, he has made several arrangements of this short fugue for various trios. Fughetta is a three-voice fugue, in A major, that contains all the elements of a classical fugue (i.e., subject, counterpoint, developments, stretto, coda, etc.). The current version, for flute, viola & cello, was recorded by Iwona Glinka, Anna Bura & Mariya Bil in Kwidzyn, Poland, in 2024. |
