Jean-Pierre Vial composed this short capriccio for the “B# Chamber Trio” (Ronda Benson Ford, flute, Nicole Doran, bassoon, Emma Anderson, piano), who premiered it in Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA, in July 2024. The caprice is actually (and quite logically) scored in B# minor but, to help instrumentalists perform it, the instrumental parts are scored in C minor, a key that sounds identically while being far less unusual.
